HOW IS WORK ASSIGNED?
Think about the roles within your business. Do you know who is responsible for what and who should participate in each part of your work?
Having well-defined roles enables you to distribute more independence and grant accountability throughout the organization without losing control. Think of job roles as a list of work services with clear outcomes that someone needs.
Position the services on your work map and then assign the players to it. Use your list of work services to understand the skillsets required. For example, if one of the services provided by your IT department is building applications, you will need coding as a skillset. Clearly assigning people to work services will mean that everyone working with your company will be able to see who is responsible for what and will ensure a strict line of accountability. Deliver work by providing services to each other within this predefined work structure with milestones to monitor progress.
